MOONEY AIRPLANE COMPANY AWARDS FREEDOM EDITION BIG DOG MOTORCYCLE AT 2005 EAA AIRVENTURE OSHKOSH

KERRVILLE, Texas — Mooney Airplane Company awarded Dr. John Stafford its special 2004 Mastiff by Big Dog Motorcycles at the 2005 Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wis. Dr. Stafford resides in Lafayette, La. The motorcycle, valued at more than $30,000, was part of the Mooney Freedom Tour and features the limited Mooney Freedom Edition paint scheme.

“The road performance of the Big Dog Motorcycles has made this high-styled cruising Mastiff a real draw at the Freedom Tour stops,” said David Copeland, Mooney Airplane Company’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Both Mooney and Big Dog brands appeal to those seeking handcrafted, high-performance machines by providing leading technology and freedom whether you race through the skies or down the road.”

On January 15, 2005 in Scottsdale, Ariz., Mooney launched one of the most extensive tours in general aviation history known as the Freedom Tour. This 30-plus city, coast-to-coast tour gives qualified Mooney buyers an opportunity to take a demonstration flight in an Ovation2 GX or Bravo GX model. These qualified buyers were automatically entered into the drawing to win the motorcycle.

“The tour was scheduled to conclude at EAA,” said Copeland. “But it has received such an overwhelming response we’re decided to extend the tour and visit the northeast, midwest and Canadian regions.”

GARMIN GDL-69A XM SATELLITE RADIO RECEIVERS NOW AVAILABLE FOR MOONEY GX MODELS

KERRVILLE, Texas — Following the issuance of a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the installation of Garmin’s GDL-69A remote sensors during the last week of July, owners and operators of Mooney Bravo and Ovation2 GX models can now monitor highly-reliable, near real time weather or access up to 130 channels of digital music, news, talk, sports and information, in flight. Installation kits are now available from Mooney Airplane Company Service Parts on a “first come-first served” basis for GX owners who ordered the XM Satellite Radio option as part of their G1000 avionics suites.

“We are pleased to be able to inform the owners of our GX models that this STC is now available,” said David Copeland, Mooney’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We’ve already produced an initial quantity of GDL-69A installation kits and are working with Garmin and Mooney authorized service centers to accommodate an obvious surge of installation requests from owners. We’re recommending to our owners that they contact the service center at their convenience to schedule the installation. Service centers will then contact our Service Parts department to coordinate the shipping of a complete installation kit at the appropriate date and time. We believe that this process will allow us to meet the highest volume of requests in the shortest period of time.”

MOONEY TO DELIVER 100TH GX MODEL
Partners from Portland, OR received Bravo GX on January 3

Kerrville, Texas— Mooney Airplane Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mooney Aerospace Group, Ltd. (OTC BB: MNYG) has delivered the 100th Mooney airplane produced with Garmin G1000 avionics installed, just over a year after the advanced avionics suite was originally certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for the Mooney Ovation2 and Bravo models. Reed Dow and Beverly Fogle of Portland, OR, who have been partners on two previous Mooney airplanes, took delivery of a new Bravo GX, N232BD, at the company’s Kerrville, TX delivery center on January 3, 2006. They began familiarization training on the G1000 equipment immediately.

Mr. Dow, who operates an environmental restoration company and Ms. Fogle, a financial consultant, will base their airplane at Portland International Airport. Both will utilize it for pleasure and work-related travel. “In our estimation, the Mooney/Garmin combination provides the best combination of safety, speed and proven design that fits our mission profile,” Ms. Fogle said. “Our experience flying our two previous Mooneys made us very familiar with their durability and safety record. We’ve also logged considerable time with previous versions of Garmin equipment, and we’ve been very impressed with its reliability, as well,” Mr. Dow explained. The pair began their aircraft ownership partnership in the late 1980’s. Ms. Fogle holds commercial, instrument, CFI and CFII ratings. Mr. Dow has a commercial license with an instrument rating and a tail dragger endorsement. Both fly about 100 hours per year.

“We’re pleased to deliver this milestone airplane to Reed and Bev just over a year after we handed over the first GX model in December of 2004. Not only is it gratifying that we’ve reached this point so rapidly, but it’s great to see this extremely capable and versatile airplane going to loyal members of the Mooney family who will obviously appreciate its performance,” noted David Copeland, Mooney’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Of course, surpassing this milestone is important to us as a company, but we want all of the owners and operators of Mooney airplanes to feel the same sense of satisfaction and support that Reed and Bev do,” Copeland said. “We appreciate their loyalty and commitment to Mooney and we will do everything we can to ensure it continues,” he added.

MOONEY NOW OFFERS COMPLETE INTERIOR REFURBISHMENTS FOR 'J' AND 'K' MODELS

Kerrville, TX--Mooney Airplane Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mooney Aerospace Group, Ltd. (OTC BB: MNYG) has begun offering interior refurbishments for its M20J and M20K models that update the airplanes to a “like new” condition.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to be relevant and responsive, Mooney’s Customer Support team conducted an independent survey of Mooney owners to determine their retrofit requirements. Among the most prominent requests were inputs from Mooney ‘J’ and ‘K’ model owners suggesting the factory provide updated interiors for their airplanes,” said Al Nitchman, Mooney’s vice president of customer support. “The owners of Mooney ‘J’ and ‘K’ model aircraft are generally very satisfied with the performance of their airplanes, and they fly them a lot. That, in turn, has led to some wear and tear on their interiors, so we’ve received a number of requests to help them revitalize their airplanes by updating them from the inside out. I’m pleased to say, that that’s something we could do quite readily, and, as of December, we started offering interior refurbishments for these models through our Factory Service Center,” he added.

Nitchman went on to explain that “it is our goal to make the J & K model interior kits available through the Mooney Service Center (MSC) network. But, before we do so, we have to ensure that our kit development is complete, instructions are properly communicated, and installations are scheduled properly and accomplished on time. To ensure this, an additional three interior kits will be installed at the Factory Service Center. For those ‘J’ and ‘K’ model owners who have an interest in this upgrade, these installations will provide unique savings opportunities since these kits will still receive priority pricing.” He continued by noting that customers interested in having interiors installed in their aircraft as part of the pre-launch process should contact Mike Todd, manager of technical sales at 830.792.2096 or 830.370.6003 (cell) or via e-mail at mtodd@mooney.com.

“During this process we will continue to develop the option packages for the interior kits and these additional pre-launch installations will provide the mechanism to complete this task as well,” he said.

The interior upgrades will bring the “J” and “K” model interiors as close as possible to the current production aircraft interior scheme. Among the highlights:

    * The M20J & K interior upgrade consists of new one piece fiberglass panels covered with rich looking Ultraleather.

    * The redesigned interior provides the same level of comfort, convenience and appearance found in current production Mooney airplanes.

    * The panels won’t become brittle, warp or discolor, as plastic can.

    * The new interior panels provide a rounded window look and are installed with fewer fasteners than original Mooney J & K model interiors. This results in easier removal and installation.

    * The cabin is quieter in flight.

    * The sleek new overhead panel is a cleaner design than the original.

    * The overhead panel is equipped with new lighting, air gaspers and oxygen ports if the airplane is equipped with an oxygen system.

    * The fire extinguisher is relocated to the spar which provides improved security and ease of access.

    * The baggage area is upgraded to current production panels with a timer controlled light that extinguishes automatically.

    * The glare shield, carpet and kick panels are new.

    * New wind lace is installed around the doors.

    * Recovered seats are available as an option.

“Even with all of these new features, attention has been paid to allow the removal of the refurbished interiors for inspection or maintenance with minimal difficulty. The first ‘J’ and ‘K’ models to be redone have already been delivered to customers in Virginia and California,” Nitchman concluded.

NEW 310 HORSEPOWER UPGRADE NOW AVAILABLE FOR MOONEY M20S & M20R MODELS

upplemental Type Certificate for Modification obtained by Midwest M20 Mooney

Kerrville, Texas— Mooney Airplane Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mooney Aerospace Group, Ltd. (OTC BB: MNYG) has begun offering operators of its Mooney M20R and M20S models a retrofit program which increases the output of their Teledyne Continental IO-550 G engines to 310 horsepower at 2700 rpm. The optional power increase became available after Midwest M20 Mooney of Flora, Illinois and PowerLite LLC, a subsidiary of AvPower LLC, obtained a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the adaptation from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Midwest M20 has authorized the installation of the 310 BHP modification only at Mooney’s Factory Service Center (FSC) in Kerrville, Texas and at its Flora facility.

“This mod expands the list of available improvements we’re providing to loyal Mooney operators as part of our commitment to continually identify and respond to their needs,” said Al Nitchman, vice president of customer support for Mooney. “Midwest M20 Mooney obtained the STC for the original Scream ‘N Eagle, which increased the installed power for the M20S Eagle from 244 BHP to 280 BHP and provided for the installation of a Hartzell Scimitar three-bladed propeller. This latest STC extends the power increase up to 310 BHP for both the M20R and M20S models, making them comparable to both the Cirrus SR22 and the Columbia 300/350, as well,” he added.

Nitchman also noted that this modification increases static thrust by approximately 70 percent over the Ovation with its standard 280 BHP and two-bladed propeller. The three-bladed propeller also diminishes landing “float.” “The STC will also shorten the airplane’s takeoff distance by as much as 55 percent for the M20S and improve its rate of climb by approximately 300 feet per minute. That will translate into better overall point-to-point performance by allowing the airplane to reach and operate longer at more efficient altitudes,” he pointed out.

“Because it makes such a difference in takeoff and climb performance, this modification is especially attractive to Mooney owners who operate out of short, unimproved airstrips,” noted powerplant engineer Bob Minnis, of AvPower, LLC, which worked with Midwest M20 Mooney in satisfying the requirements of the STC. “It makes a difference enroute, too, because it allows the airplane to cruise at 75% power up to an altitude of approximately 10,500 feet, three thousand feet higher than it could before this STC modification was available. And, because the air gets thinner as you go higher, that can translate into an additional 2 to 3 knots of speed per each thousand feet of altitude while burning the same amount of fuel,” he explained.

The modification, which will apply to approximately 383 M20R and M20S aircraft currently in the active fleet, also allows the M20S’s takeoff weight to be increased to the same as the M20R’s—3368 pounds. Thanks to credits applied for the previous STC, it will be priced at $ 20,000 for the Scream’N Eagle, $25,000 for the 310BHP upgrade for M20R and M20S models equipped with two bladed propellers (because of the necessity to change to a three bladed propeller), and $17,500 for the 310BHP for models already equipped with three bladed Hartzell propellers. The required changes can be accomplished during a regularly scheduled maintenance visit to Midwest M20 Mooney or the Mooney Factory Service Center (FSC) in Kerrville, or by separate appointment. Interested operators can call the FSC at 1-800-456-3033 or Midwest M20 at 618-662-3377 for scheduling information.

MOONEY DELIVERS 85 AIRPLANES IN 2005

Kerrville, Texas— Mooney Airplane Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mooney Aerospace Group, Ltd. (OTC BB: MNYG) delivered 19 aircraft valued at approximately $9 million during the fourth quarter of 2005, bringing the company’s total for the year to 85 airplanes worth approximately $36.5 million. The tally exceeds Mooney’s projection to “more than double 2004 deliveries” and represents a 136% increase in deliveries, year to year, over 2004. Mooney delivered a total of 34 aircraft in 2003 and 36 in 2004.

“Our sales in 2005 reflect both the strength of our product line and confidence in the company,” said David Copeland, Mooney’s vice president of sales and marketing. “We expect growth in both orders and deliveries in 2006 as we mark our 60th year of production,” he added. Mooney began building airplanes in Wichita, Kansas in 1946, before moving to Kerrville, Texas in 1951. It now employs 410 people at the site.

During the fourth quarter, Mooney delivered 14 Ovation2 GX and 5 Bravo GX models, bringing the yearend totals to 64 Ovation2 GX aircraft and 20 Bravo GX models. A single Ovation DX was also delivered during the year. “The delivery of our 11,000th production airplane and the 100th GX model will highlight the first quarter of 2006, and we’ll launch our 60th Anniversary celebration with some special events, as well,” Copeland stated.

“We’ve streamlined our operations and delivery process in 2005, and made measurable improvements in customer support and responsiveness,” noted Gretchen Jahn, Mooney’s chief executive officer. “Our expectations for 2006 include improvements in our processes and productivity as well as the increases in orders and deliveries,” she added.

    MOONEY DELIVERS MILESTONE AIRCRAFT

New Jersey executive Dennis Strigl receives 11,000th Mooney airplane

Kerrville, Texas— Mooney Airplane Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mooney Aerospace Group, Ltd. (OTC BB: MNYG.ob) has delivered its 11,000th production aircraft, an Ovation2 GX, to Dennis F. Strigl of New Jersey. The milestone airplane was handed over to Mr. Strigl at the company’s Kerrville, Texas delivery center on February 23, 2006. It is equipped with the popular Garmin G1000 avionics suite which features two flat panel liquid crystal displays, a GDL69A weather uplink with XIM satellite radio, a GTX 330 mode “S” transponder, and an STEC 55X autopilot.

Mr. Strigl is a veteran pilot who first flew a Mooney in the 1980s and retained his interest in the airplane even though he hadn’t been an active flyer for nearly 20 years. After deciding to enroll in training to revive his piloting skills, he went on to earn an instrument rating. A visit to the Mooney website led to a call to the factory and, eventually, a demonstration flight in a Mooney. The purchase of the milestone Ovation2 GX followed.

“I was extremely impressed with the speed and performance of the airplane, as well as the glass panel,” Mr. Strigl noted. “It didn’t take me long to get comfortable flying it. It’s very stable in cruise and slow flight and compared very favorably to the other aircraft I evaluated. I’m very pleased to be joining the ranks of Mooney owners,” he added.

David Copeland, Mooney’s vice president of sales and marketing commented on the milestone delivery: “Of course, surpassing 11,000 deliveries is important to us as a company. While not every one carries the same historic significance, we definitely want all of our Mooney owners and operators to feel the same sense of satisfaction and support that Dennis Strigl does with his new aircraft,” Mr. Copeland said. “We appreciate our customers’ loyalty and commitment to Mooney and we will do everything we can to ensure that it continues,” he added.

Mooney delivered its first airplane in 1948, from its initial location in Wichita, Kansas. A total of 66 were delivered during the company’s first full year of production. The firm moved to Kerrville in 1951. The 10,000th delivery plateau was surpassed in 1991. After delivering 34 aircraft in 2003 and 36 (including 18 GX models) in 2004, the company more than doubled its output in 2005 with 85 new airplanes entering service.
