The Aviationadvertiser has put together a very important document that will be sent to Minister Albanese. The document 'How To Steal An Airport" is a fantastic effort to document the ongoing destruction of our airports. It is a compelling read, and as it says in the article makes "pink bats" and "BER" look like small potatoes.

Please print off the signature sheet, get as many signatures on it as possible and return it to Dave Miles, scanned and emailed to the address below BUT PLEASE DO IT NOW.

I just read the letter to the minister. Obviously, a very articulate and educated man who wrote this. But for a relatively basic person like myself, I did not find the letter easily read or very clear on the specific points to be addressed. After reading the letter, I am not a whole lot more wiser on the subject.

I'm glad there are people out there ( who are clearly a lot more intelligent than myself) pushing the GA barrow. I, or one, will be signing the petition and I hope this petition is seen by the wider aviation community. The links below should be printed in all the aviation magazines, and sent to all the aeroclubs and flying schools around the country.

Agreed, the letter to the minister is "formal" and takes a bit of effort to comprehend. It appears that ministers prefer this sort of communication to give them an "elevated" feeling. But given past history with many such letters they simply disapear into a black hole located somewhere in Canberra. Then the minister can claim that they were never advised on the issue. Right. But do read the supporting document. It is a great read.

I agree with you Stuart. This material should be in every newspaper and aviation publication. It's not there because people are afraid, or lazy. I think the only way any of us in aviation will see improvement is if there is a loud, persistent, and unrelenting noise.

I just received mistaken daily usage charge for Bankstown Airport and was very surprised to see that the billed daily fee was $95. That seems a little high to say the least. If this is correct, this isolated example highlights the difficulty that GA users face at many airports.

I would support Peter's, and others, efforts in highlighting the crisis that is facing aviation under privatisation of public assets. This is one of those issues that may not affect everyone just now, but lack of a unified voice and response will foreshadow similar attitudes elsewhere, and price GA out of reach of everyone.

I would encourage all to take an interest in the airport plight.

Surely that is not just to land and stay the day!

It's $66 to land at Brisbane Airport (plus an extra $25 if you use the ILS - God only know's why) but that is a major Internation Airport. $95 for a GAAP is outrageous.
