Although not connected in any way with aviation, I thought you might be interested in Evernote as it brings a whole new world of possibilities to getting organised. (And I need as much help as I can get!)
It’s taken me a long while to uncover the potential of Evernote as I don’t think they explain it particularly well in their marketing - but I find it incredibly useful.
Essentially, Evernote is an online diary system for storing and retrieving notes. It has some inspiring features:
1. Notes are not just any notes: they can be in the form of text, audio messages, jpeg photos, iPhone photos, scans, or any type of file (eg jpg, word docs, pdf files) which can be dragged an dropped onto the application (PC & Mac).
2. Notes can be automatically captured from web pages using plug-ins for Safari or Firefox.
3. Notes are organised into any number of Notebooks or “Diaries” and can be easily retrieved by a key word search. The graphic text on business cards, handwritten notes iPhone photos of documents etc is automatically converted to computer based text which is searchable.
4. Notes are seemlessly synchronised (and accessible) between all your phones/computers.
5. Your data (ie notes, photos, files etc) is stored on the “cloud” (ie on their servers) and is seamlessly synchronised and accessible by all your iPhones, Macs and PCs.
In my case I can be away from my office and dictate a note via the iPhone app. The note is immediately available to all my other computers, back in my home or office.
The cost is free for a limited amount of storage on their servers. I have purchased additional storage with other features for a modest cost.
